Draping

Charles James Bodice

I recreated this Charles James bodice. I draping a fitted base that fit snug to the mannequin. For the detailed pleating, I tested multiple arrangements and fabric lengths to get the right fit. I learned a lot about how to correctly utilize my pinning and how to manipulate fabric around curved surfaces.

Wonderful Town, Mrs.Wade Dress

The inspiration for this dress was the greek Delphos dresses. We wanted a striking color and a elegant drape and flow. I pleated 7 yards of purple polyester silk into 3/4 inch pleats using a pleating board that I constructed. I made multiple mock ups and learned to work around the intricacies of the pleated material.
